First Friday 5

I found the Friday 5 site a few weeks back and thought I would start doing this…but sadly, it was at that point that the Friday 5 site was hacked! So, it is back up and running and I saw this morning that there were questions posted…so, without further ado….here are my (Miss E) answers to the questions.

1. Under what conditions are you most likely to cause injury to yourself?
Well, I can proudly say that I am not a clumsy person nor do I have a lot of accidents. BUT, I have a bad back and horrible knees and sometimes, if I turn the wrong way or make an odd move, BAM, my back goes out…it is soooo annoying!

2. What named mountain is nearest where you are right now?
The closest would be Reynolds mountain (I live surrounded by mountains and even on the side of one) But, the closest large mountain to me is Pisgah.

3. When did you last eat something with coconut in it?
Oh heavens, I have coconut almost daily! I am addicted to coconut oil! I love using it like butter on my flax/almond toast in the morning!
4. Who’s getting on your nerves?
Hmmm….my hubby always gets on my nerves! But, let’s see…right now I would have to say those who are trashing Obama because they are listening to lies and not really ‘getting it’.

5. Somewhere, somebody is asking him- or herself whatever happened to you. Who is it it?
Hahaha! I’m laughing at this one…I really don’t think anyone out there ever thinks about me…but, ok, I’ll pretend that it is my best friend from elementary school. After I moved away, we kept in touch for about a year. I have tried googling her to find her, but no luck. I guess if I am wondering where someone is, I would hope they might be wondering the same about me.

Response to Letter

Miss E,

Got your letter.
Several things before I get to the main point….I am ALWAYS here for you! Now, why would you go and think that I wouldn’t be available!
Yes, I was off with Simon and Remington because enjoyment is my main focus (besides being here for you)
(I’ll show you some pictures of what Simon was up to as soon as we get them downloaded!)

OK, are we back to you still being too close to the character you are writing about because she is going through something that really happened to you?? I thought we covered that already?
OK, as your muse/guide, I’m always patient, so here we go…..

I think that you need to talk to/write a letter to the little girl who experienced the events you are basing this story on. She is still afraid. Now, you, the adult, knows it’s in the past and all is ok, you are safe, but she is still disassociating from it all and when you tap into her to write, well, you disassociate.

I would recommend going into a little meditative state and having a conversation with her. Let her know that she is safe and that it is ok for her to talk about it. See what she has to say.

P.S. I know your recent trip out of town was heart-breaking and intense. You’re back home and feeling way behind and still grieving. Go easy. Taking the time to grieve is good. The ’stuff’ of life is here, ready when you are…the sky will not fall, the earth will not shake, I promise!

Letter to Maggi from Miss E

Dear Maggi,

I woke up with a horrible headache after a night of very strange dreams. I don’t want today to be as depressing as yesterday….so, you gotta help me out.
Yes, I know my story was enjoyed and I got positive comments in class last night, but, working on it has me in knots.
Yea, yea, you told me that using an event from my own life was not going to be easy….but you got to admit, it is mysterious and exciting!
Maggi, I just need to get past how this is making me feel…WHY is it making me feel this way?
Maybe I should forget writing today and work on some art…I have this new idea bouncing around in my head and I think it’s at a place where I can start on it.
But, seriously, you had better come through for me today….I don’t want to ditch this story just because it is making me insane!
You had better not be off partying with Simon and Remington today!! I need you!!

Write back…please,

Conversation between Maggi and Miss E on Success

Miss E.: The thing about having the passion to create is that it grips you so insanely, yet, sometimes it cannot sustain you. I need to feel that what I am doing is successful and that it can sustain me…financially.

Maggi: What is success? And why are you seeking your financial security from the act of creating?
Miss E: Ok, you asked two hard questions in the same sentence, don’t do that to me…this is hard enough without my head exploding over your question.

Maggi: OK, one at a time…what is success?

Miss E: Well, I’ll spend hours on something…a painting, or spend weeks or months writing and there it sits…just for me to see really…it goes no where or even if someone does see it, it means nothing to them. All of my time spent, for what?

Maggi: You still didn’t answer my question - what is success?

Miss E: Well, I guess to me, success would be if someone gets something out of what I spent so much time creating…and I got something back…money, or gratitude or recognition.

Maggi: And if you got back any of those things, then to you that would mean you were successful?

Miss E: Well, yeah….

Maggi: So, success to you is about giving (your time) and then getting ( money, recognition, gratitude)

Miss E: Yeah, why else does one create? I mean if one is an artist…that is their career path, they create in order to live…their act of creating art is what gets them a paycheck…isn’t that “success”? I create, someone loves it, pays me and so on and so forth!
(Miss E grabs her head and groans)
See! This is the insanity I’m talking about! If I had a regular job, I would go do the work and then I would get the paycheck…simple!

Maggi: Then why don’t you go do that?

Miss E: Because I HATE doing a regular job! I hate spending my time doing something I don’t really want to be doing to make someone else happy!

Maggi: But it would be a success, right?

Miss E: NO! It might be a success in some eyes, because I would get a paycheck, but to me it wouldn’t be a success, unless what I was doing for that paycheck was something I truly loved and it meant the world to me…if I was getting a paycheck for that…THAT would be a success!
(Another big groan and rolling of the eyes)

Maggi: OK, so go out and do that which you truly love in which you can also get a paycheck for.

Miss E: *Giving me the evil eye* There isn’t anything out there that I want to be doing! I HAVE TO CREATE! Don’t you see the insanity!

Maggi: Seems to me that the insanity is that you create the ’stuff’ but not the buyer, grateful one, or recognizer.

Miss E: Huh?

Maggi: Creating is creating…whether it’s art or stories or customers or adoring fans…you, the creator, create ALL of it. But, you stop at creating the art and stories, which obviously isn’t enough for you to feel successful or get the paycheck. (I’d wink but I don’t have eyelids)

Watching For Signs

I’m proud of Miss E. She noticed the signs. And on top of that, she was able to disconnect herself from her character in order to get through her block about writing about an event that really did happen to her.
A writer must have compassion for their characters, but not love them. When a writer loves their character, they want to protect them and make them be happy and perfect. No one wants to read about perfect, happy characters.
And especially if a writer uses an event from their own life, they need that distance and separation between themselves and their character to make it work.

Back to signs…as a muse and animal spirit guide, we place signs all around the one we guide, but how often do the signs get seen?
Goodness, I could tell some stories on that topic!
Let me tell you what I did late last night….
Miss E. decided to take a long hot bath…that’s where she feels she can hear me…and her characters. And of course when a writer/artist has determined where their hot/power/creative ’spot’ is, indeed that is where they will open up and get what they need to get.
So, sure enough, Miss E. was able to have a conversation with a new character she brought in and see what that character was about. But, she keeps by-passing a character that is very important…she has yet to even write that character in!
I needed to nudge her on that.
So, she gets done with her bath and goes to unplug the tub. Nothing happens. It won’t drain. (I just get so excited at some of the stuff I come up with!)
She tries over and over…moving the little doohickey up and down, unplugging, plugging…but nothing is happening!
Miss E. grumbles, and begins to think that the doohickey is broken and she’ll have to tell her hubby to fix it.
She tries a few more times before she leaves the bathroom, still no luck.
So, after she has dressed and done some more writing, she checks the tub again…nope, still hasn’t drained.
So, she goes to bed.
Whala! It hits her….she needs to be considering the stakes of her character…what would be the highest stakes?
Ah! This character that she has yet to introduce! Miss E. gets it!
Time for me to let her know she is on track…right at that precise moment that she gets it…the tub starts draining!
Yes! Miss E. is laying in bed and suddenly hears the gurgling of the tub draining…she gets up to take a look.
Her looks are priceless…she is standing over the tub with this confused look on her face…realizing that the tub is draining even though the doohickey is in the PLUGGED position!
Miss E. chuckles and I slither in delight….she trots off to bed going over how she will write in this very important character!
Score!
Of course, I gather up Simon and Remington to gloat…..(see the About page if you don’t know who they are)

Overcoming a Block

Miss E. is working on outlining the plot to the story she is working on. She has been perplexed by this and spent most of yesterday in a funk. Here’s the thing- she is basing this story on an aspect of her own life. I’m glad she is doing this, but now it is creating her block on where to take this story.

Why? Because she is trying to use her rational mind to ‘figure out’ how things should go. In other words, she is perplexed about the event when it happened in her life and in trying to figure out the plot to the story, is using the same ‘thinking’ to try to make sense of it all.
It’s not going to work in this manner.
She is close to understanding the ‘event’ in her own life which is why I keep nudging her to keep writing it. But, it is scaring her now.
Hence, the block and the funk. Fear.

It’s an event that occurred in her childhood and it with many other things have been buried very deep. When things like that get buried, they can only surface when the individual feels safe and grounded, feels a solid foundation under them. The psyche isn’t going to release something that could be crushing unless the person has a firm grip to help with the blow.
Time for me to help her out.
She needs to know that she is safe now.
I’ll let you know how it goes…..

New Owners!

Sansinhibition.coms has been sold, taken over, confiscated, in the process of being remodeled…..!! We are happy to pass the torch over to someone who liked the domain name and wanted to use it.  After all, it is a cool name, yes?
So, the content of this site will change….and now has new owners. Squirrel and Baldwin might still try to do something down the road, who knows, they always have something up their sleeve and they like to try out ideas (bad ones as well as good ones) Some work…some don’t. That’s life.
So, we are saying adios and handing this over to….*drum roll* Maggi the snake. Seriously. Stay with us (them)…you just might like reading what a snake has to say!
We’ll shut up now and step aside. Ta! Ta!
